History of RHTC

Early of 2019, there was a government policy to encourage the cultivation of medical cannabis. By stipulating the conditions of the law to be able to obtain permission to grow cannabis by having to set up a community enterprise to help Thai farmers.

Mr.Wisan is interested in cannabis and search law and species of cannabis When the government changed the laws in Thailand to unlock cannabis and have open up to deregulating certain, He initiated the establishment of River Khwae Herbal Therapeutic Center (RHTC) in collaboration with Dr.Paisan Kanthang, Dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology Rajamangala University of Technology Phra Nakhon To study cannabis research since 2019. RHTC has become an expert on cannabis cultivation in Thailand. Therefore, it is advisable to support the government’s policy to encourage the cultivation of medical cannabis and he would like to encourage farmers to grow legal cannabis and he would like to share knowledge and methods to them and financial support. While Thai law stipulates conditions for obtaining a license to grow medical cannabis legally, that is, farmers must registered for establishment up community enterprises to apply for a license to grow cannabis.

RHTC, as an expert, has educated and gathered farmers and interested parties Cannabis cultivation in Kanchanaburi province. by providing knowledge support and investment For the first time, 8 community enterprises were registered and began to study on obtaining permission to grow cannabis in Thailand and how to legally grow Cannabis. The end of 2019, They has been granted permission from government agencies to grow cannabis in the amount of 1 greenhouse per 1 community enterprise. Therefore, 8 greenhouses were built for each community enterprise to test planting. Mr. Wisan, a civil engineer, therefore designed and built the greenhouses according to the size required by law, which is 4 meters wide and 12 meters long (48 square meters per 1 greenhouse) looks like a general Green House without water or temperature control. The Ministry of Public Health allows cannabis cultivation for 100 plants per year per greenhouse or 50 plants per 6 months.

RHTC’s first cannabis plantation uses Thai cannabis strains. Phu Phan Squirrel Tail because the Cannabis species, squirrel tail, Phu Phan It has a bushy inflorescence like a squirrel’s tail, with large inflorescences, with a distinctive aroma, similar to ripe mangoes. and no pungent smell
Mr. Wisan has searched for a professional grower. And he discovered that professional, Mr. Saman, he was the best growing team, professional and passionate about growing cannabis.

Mr. Saman is the leader of the grower team. RHTC has promoted knowledge to farmers. labor recruitment and all the materials and equipment needed to grow medical cannabis for 8 community enterprises, which is considered Thailand’s first legal cannabis cultivation From the first harvest and sent to the Department of Medical Sciences Ministry of Public Health for inspection, it was found that it contained 18% THC, RHTC Intends to develop that cannabis strains capable of providing up to 30% higher THC. During the first harvest, all 8 community enterprises, which are RHTC’s network, must deliver all cannabis flowers to government hospitals. According to the condition of permission, since cannabis flowers were considered drugs at the time, the public could not possess other parts such as cannabis plants, roots and leaves could be sold to food businesses, and other parts were sent to animal feed businesses, but in 2020, The spread of the coronavirus disease 2019 (covid-19), the COVID-19 pandemic around the world, the leaves, roots, branches of cannabis cannot be sold, and sales to the states are still not sufficient to meet market demand.

When the covid relaxed situation in the middle of 2020 in that the second round of cannabis harvesting, he thought that 8 community enterprises can sell dried cannabis flowers to the Department of Thai Traditional and Alternative Medicine of Ministry of Public Health at a price of 45,000 baht (about 1250 EUR) per kilogram in the E-GP system or the government procurement system.
